About
Boat Doctor, founded by Dr. Conor Smith, represents the convergence of unique expertise in equal parts ocean science, marine electrical systems, and decades of sea-going practical experience.
Conor grew up boating. As a youth he was homeschooled aboard a voyaging sailboat, learning the fundamentals of marine systems and how to generate, store, and monitor electrical energy to facilitate off-grid life afloat.
He was motivated to Physics and Electrical systems further, ultimately receiving a Ph.D in Applied Marine Physics and the title of ABYC Master Technician with specialities in Advanced Marine Electrical.
Conor enjoys helping his clients make informed decisions based on practical application of real world data. His unique experience benefits his clients by providing data-driven suggestions that are rugged and field tested.
Conor studied Applied Marine Physics at University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science.
With the ability to turn raw data into clear, actionable information, he is able to optimize electrical systems by leveraging data from numerous past installations.
He is also a US Coast Guard Licensed Captain.

Warrior Sailing
When not working on marine electrical systems himself, Conor teaches at a non profit: Warrior Sailing.
He is an instructor for marine systems training. He teaches the fundamentals of marine electrical systems and diesel engines.
Warrior Sailing uses the medium of sailing to help heal illnesses and injuries. As our Warrior Sailing Alumni continue to pursue more sailing opportunities, I try to equip them with the fundamental knowledge of marine electrical systems and how to use a multimeter effectively, to be safer on the water.
